Peterson's ex-wife says he was abusive

BOLINGBROOK, Ill., Nov. 16 (UPI) -- As police search for Stacy Peterson, one of her husband's ex-wives said Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson abused her.

Vicki Connolly told the Chicago Tribune Peterson hit and threatened to kill her and would make it look like an accident. Connolly said she shared her fears of her husband with his colleagues on the Bolingbrook force whom she considered friends, the newspaper reported Friday.

Connolly said Peterson would hit her but would not leave marks and not often enough for her to expect it.

"It was mind games; it was head games," she said.

Connolly also told the newspaper she doesn't know if her ex-husband has anything to do with the disappearance of his 23-year-old wife, Stacy, Peterson, who has been missing since Oct. 28, or the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, whose 2004 death was initially ruled an accidental drowning.

Peterson, who has not been charged with a crime, has denied involvement in either case and denied being abusive to Savio or Stacy Peterson.

Savio's body has been exhumed for a new autopsy.
