HOUSTON, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Police in Houston are investigating reports someone may have sneaked inside the Crowne Plaza Hotel before it was imploded.
John Cannon, spokesman for the Houston Police Department, said investigators planned to search the implosion site Thursday to check for a body, the Houston Chronicle reported Thursday.
No remains were discovered when the rubble was searched Wednesday.
"We got a lead that someone might have sneaked into the building before the implosion and might have been there when it imploded," Cannon said. "It's too early to tell if that's true."
Leonard Cherry, an owner of the company that performed the implosion, Cherry Demolition, said police told them Wednesday of the reports that someone may have been inside during the building's destruction.
"We are working diligently with the officers of the police department," he said. "We certainly hope that this is not true, but are cooperating in any way that we can."
