Teens plead guilty in chlorine bomb cases

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Two California teenagers pleaded guilty to charges they threw homemade bombs containing poison gas into a birthday party and a homecoming dance.

Authorities in San Jose, Calif., said the defendants had apparently learned how to make the devices by watching a demonstration video posted on YouTube, the San Jose Mercury News reeported Thursday.

The pair pleaded guilty Wednesday to three felony charges and two misdemeanors in Santa Clara County Juvenile Court incidents left three people injured. They are to be sentenced Nov. 16.

The Mercury News said the boys’ lawyers painted the October incidents as “pranks.” However, the prosecutor in the case indicated he would seek jail time.
