Poll: Clinton, Giuliani tight in New York

NEW YORK, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- A new poll indicates Democrat Hillary Clinton has a slight lead over Republican Rudy Giuliani with prospective presidential voters in New York.

The Zogby International telephone poll said Clinton had 44 percent of the support of likely New York voters, compared to 38 percent who support Giuliani for president. Nine percent were undecided.

The survey found New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg would take support equally from Clinton and Giuliani if he were to enter the race.

Clinton's support is strongest in New York City, with 55 percent, compared to 27 percent for Giuliani. Suburban voters give a slight edge to Clinton, 45 percent to 36 percent. Giuliani is favored in upstate New York, 45 percent to 36 percent.

The telephone poll of 705 likely New York voters conducted last week carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
