Kate McCann pleads for daughter's return

LONDON, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Kate McCann Saturday marked the sixth month since her daughter's disappearance in Portugal by pleading for her release.

McCann, her husband Gerry, relatives and friends planned to attend a four-hour vigil in the church in Rothley, Leicestershire, The Daily Mail reported.

"Six months is such a long time for a little girl to be separated from her family," McCann said in a statement. "Madeleine is a beautiful little person who deserves a loving and happy life."

McCann said she and her husband "believe that our Madeleine is out there somewhere and retain hope that we can be reunited."

The McCanns maintain that their daughter was abducted in April from their holiday apartment on the Algarve, but Portuguese police have named the couple as suspects in the case. British newspapers reported recently that new forensic tests appear to show that Madeleine's body was in a car that her parents rented 25 days after she vanished.
