Bush stumps for Ohio's Chabot

CINCINNATI, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- President Bush traveled to the key election state of Ohio Monday to help Republican Rep. Steve Chabot raise money in his re-election bid.

Chabot said before the event he expected Bush's appearance would raise about $575,000, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

The fundraiser for the seven-term congressman and the National Republican Party was at the home of Susie and Bob Castellini, principle partner and chief executive officer of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team.

After the fundraiser, Bush made a surprise stop at the Montgomery Inn restaurant on the Cincinnati's riverfront to attend Reds' iconic catcher Johnny Bench's 60th birthday party. He was accompanied by Chabot, state Rep. Jean Schmidt, Ohio U.S. Sen. George Voinovich, and Rep. John Boehner, the House Republican leader who's from Ohio.
