E-mail info sought in Doolittle probe

WASHINGTON, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- The chief administrative officer with the U.S. House of Representatives has been subpoenaed in an investigation into Rep. John Doolittle, R-Calif.

An official notification on the subpoena for Daniel Beard was read on the House floor Thursday, Politico.com reported. The subpoena "seeks material from e-mail backup tapes."

The Doolittle investigation is more fallout from the investigation into disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff. When the FBI raided Doolittle's Virginia home earlier this year, his lawyer released a statement saying agents were looking for material related to his wife's fundraising company, Sierra Dominion Financial Solutions.

After the information about the Beard subpoena became public, Doolittle referred questions to his lawyer, Politico.com said.
