Skulls found in package at O'Hare Airport

CHICAGO, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Chicago police are investigating the discovery of two apparent human skulls found by cargo screeners at O'Hare International Airport.

Chicago Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents found the skulls in a package Tuesday afternoon, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Wednesday.

"They appear to be human skulls," Mirabelli said.

The package originated from China and was bound for a home in Michigan. The package's invoice described its contents as plastic dental moldings, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Investigators said the skulls appeared to be intended for study or medical practice.

"The medical examiner is looking at these human remains to determine if they are models for study," Mirabelli said.
