Kremlin confirms Putin assassination plot

MOSCOW, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has been warned of a plot to assassinate him during a scheduled trip to Iran this week, a Kremlin spokeswoman said.

The Russian government would not give further details about the attack, but the Interfax news agency quoted an unnamed source from the Russian national security forces as saying the attempt would be carried out by suicide bombers.
