He said Britain and the United States actively used the secret services of Poland, Georgia and Baltic states in plots against Russia, the Novosti news agency reported.

"More than 270 actively operating agents and 70 foreign intelligence recruits, including 35 Russians, have been exposed since 2003," Patrushev said. "The United Kingdom should be distinguished among other countries, because its special secret services are not only involved in intelligence activities on all fronts, but are also trying to influence the development of the domestic political situation in Russia.

He said this year 14 foreign agents and 33 recruits have been uncovered, the report said.
