JAKARTA, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- The Indonesian Supreme Court has denied the final appeals of two people convicted in a 2002 Bali terrorist attack that killed more than 200 people.
The court said Tuesday lawyers for Imam Samudra and Ali Ghufron failed to produce any new evidence that could change the outcome of the case, the Voice of America reported Tuesday. The court said two panels rejected the appeals.
A third man convicted in the crime, Amrozi Nurhasyim, lost an earlier appeal against his conviction.
The three men were convicted of an October 2002 terrorist attack in Bali that claimed the lives of many foreign tourists. The three men are expected to face a firing squad, VOA said.
Previous plans to execute the convicts were delayed last year when defense lawyers argued their clients had been tried unfairly under anti-terrorism laws that weren't in effect until after the bombings.
