LONDON, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- London police have arrested two hotel guests after a suspected burglar plummeted 30 feet from a hotel window.

The suspected burglar, who is in a critical condition at the Royal London hospital after suffering head injuries from the fall, is believed to have been disturbed by two Italian guests returning to their Cedar Guest House room, The Daily Mail reported Friday.

Witnesses reported hearing shouting and loud noises coming from the vicinity of the room before the man fell from the window. Detectives are trying to determine whether the man fell trying to escape or was pushed from the window, the newspaper said.

"Two men have been arrested and are being held at a central London police station," a Scotland Yard spokeswoman said.

Three other hotel guests are being interviewed by investigators.
