Simpson witness busted on parole violation

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A witness in the armed robbery case against O.J. Simpson was arrested Wednesday in Las Vegas for a parole violation.

Alfred Beardsley was arrested at the Luxor hotel and casino on the Strip, Las Vegas television station KVVU reported. Beardsley is one of two collectors who accused Simpson and others of barging into a hotel room last week and stealing sports memorabilia.

Authorities said Beardsley was wanted in California for a parole violation.

Meanwhile, one of the two remaining at-large suspects turned himself in to Las Vegas police, TMZ.com reported.

Police said Charles Cashmore, who surrendered to detectives Wednesday morning, provided authorities evidence, including items believed to have been taken during the robbery, the celebrity-tracking Web site reported. One unidentified suspect remains at large. Three other men were arrested.

The other collector, Bruce Fromong, was admitted to a hospital after suffering a heart attack.

Simpson is free on $125,000 cash assurity after being charged with several felony counts, including kidnapping, burglary and assault. Simpson said he and the others were trying to retrieve items he said were taken by a former agent.
