Romney owns Yankee network stock

BOSTON, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- GOP presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney may be facing more trouble from home state voters -- he has stock in the Yankee empire.

Massachusetts, of course, is the home of the New York Yankees’ rival, the Boston Red Sox.

The Boston Herald said a new federal campaign filing shows Romney -- who has taken shots for changing his mind on abortion and other social issues -- owns stock in the Yankees Entertainment and Sports network, which broadcasts Yankees games and is partly owned by George Steinbrenner. The filing does not say how long Romney has owned the stock.

A Romney spokesman said the stock is in a blind trust.
