Man admits to blackmail over sex tape

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- A Ballwin, Mo., man has admitted blackmailing an elementary school principal over a homemade sex tape.

Kevin Lee Thompson, 42, pleaded guilty to mailing a threatening communication Wednesday in U.S. District Court in St. Louis and may face 14 months in prison, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Thompson admitted that after discovering the videotape in 2006, he sent an anonymous letter to the principal demanding $15,000 or he would release the tape to the media and the principal's employer, revealed Assistant U.S. Attorney Hal Goldsmith.

Thompson, who faces 14 months in prison under federal guidelines, will be sentenced later this year.
