Poland coalition reportedly collapses

WARSAW, Poland, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- A junior party member Monday blamed Poland's prime minister for a reported collapse of the ruling coalition government, Polish Radio reported.

Andrzej Lepper, leader of the Self Defense Party, accused Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski of lacking a good partnership attitude and of attempts to ruin Lepper's party.

Speaking on the national radio, Lepper said Kaczynski's Law and Justice Party was responsible for the collapse of the coalition of the three parties.

Lepper said neither his Self Defense Party nor he other junior coalition member party, the League of Polish Families, could see Kaczynski as remaining in the post of prime minister, the radio said.

In mid-July, Kaczynski sacked Lepper from his post of a deputy prime minister and agriculture minister over a corruption investigation.

Sunday, Lepper's Self Defense Party decided to leave the ruling coalition and withdraw its ministers from he government.

If deputies of the Self Defense Party leave parliament, Kaczynski's Law and Justice Party no longer will have majority support and early elections should be called.
