Two men arrested after six-county chase

NEW YORK, July 28 (UPI) -- Two parolees were arrested after allegedly leading police on a six-county chase that crisscrossed the Hudson River and ended in gunfire.

Police working undercover said they saw Mark Harkins, 25, and James Jones, 28, both of Chester, N.Y., allegedly participate in a drug deal in Paterson, N.J., Friday night.

When the police moved to arrest them, Harkins and Jones allegedly pulled a woman to their Ford F-150 truck and then dropped her before speeding east on Interstate 80, the New York Post reported Saturday.

Harkins and Jones, who were on parole in New York state, are accused of leading police on an hour-long chase across the George Washington Bridge and up the Henry Hudson and Saw Mill parkways.

They allegedly began shooting at police near Greenburgh, before speeding over the Tappan Zee Bridge. Police shot Harkins in the arm and stopped the car when it rammed a roadblock in Clarkstown, the Post reported.
