AUSTIN, Texas, June 28 (UPI) -- Lady Bird Johnson, the oldest living U.S. first lady, was discharged from a Texas hospital Thursday.
The 94-year-old widow of President Lyndon Johnson was admitted to Seton Hospital in Austin a week ago because of a fever. Neal Spelce, a spokesman for the family, said hospitalization was precautionary because Johnson had a stroke in 2002, The Austin American-Statesman reported.
"I'm sure she is happy to be back at her warm and inviting house and her balcony overlooking the lake," said Johnson's executive assistant, Shirley James. "She enjoys sitting on the balcony and looking at Lake Austin."
Both of Johnson's daughters and many of her other family members were with her at the hospital, taking turns sitting with her and reading to her.
