COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, June 21 (UPI) -- Two former ministers vowed Thursday to topple the Sri Lankan government.
"As some 20 ministers are ready to join with us, we are ready to topple the President Mahinda Rajapaksa-led government," former Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera told reporters Thursday in Colombo, Lankapage reported.
Samaraweera and Sripathi Sooriyarachchi were ousted from Rajapaksa's Cabinet earlier this year. On Tuesday, they announced that they had formed an opposition wing to the ruling party.
"We want to get the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to a correct track, as it is already going (on the) wrong track," Samaraweera said Thursday, Lankagage reported.
