JERUSALEM, June 20 (UPI) -- Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak ordered the military Wednesday to allow the evacuation of busloads of people from the Gaza Strip into Israel.
Buses were dispatched to the Erez crossing, where about 90 Ukrainian citizens, some of them married to Palestinians, were allowed to cross along with unidentified diplomats, Ynetnews reported.
Barak also authorized Magen David Adom national ambulance service to transport Palestinian citizens injured in Hamas-Fatah clashes to Israeli hospitals, the report said.
"We know of eight to 10 wounded Palestinians, apparently shot, who are supposed to arrive at Erez, but it is still not clear," ambulance spokesman Shay Alazmy told Ynetnews.
Palestinians sources said there are some 150 refugees at the crossing, half of them Fatah members and the other half West Bank residents wanting to return to their homes.
