Arab League delegation in Lebanon

BEIRUT, Lebanon, June 20 (UPI) -- Delegates from four Arab countries were in Lebanon Wednesday to try to mediate tensions between the government and opposition forces.

Delegates from Arab League states of Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Qatar and Egypt were to meet Wednesday with Lebanese President Emile Lahoud and members of the Lebanese parliament, reported Alalam Satellite TV.

"Everybody is afraid of what has happened and what may happen in Lebanon," said Amr Moussa, secretary-general of the Arab League.

The Arab League won't abandon Lebanon and will do everything within its power to ease tensions there, Moussa said.
