ELIZABETH, N.J., June 14 (UPI) -- The nasty marital split between former New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey and his second wife has become even nastier.
In a letter to the judge who must decide on custody of the couple's daughter and other issues, McGreevey said Dina Matos McGreevey has only herself to blame if her book, "Silent Partner," is not selling well, accusing her of trying to put the blame on him, The Star-Ledger of Newark reported.
"The defendant does not take responsibility for her own mistakes," McGreevey said, citing his wife's "awful appearance on the Oprah show" and her "dull writing." He also said the book contains "the unbelievable assertion that she did not know her husband was gay."
In the book, Matos McGreevey says she learned of her husband's sexual orientation shortly before he publicly announced he was gay and was resigning as governor. She accuses him of marrying her as a political prop.
After their separation, both McGreevey and his estranged wife moved to Union County, giving them both easy access to their daughter. But their efforts to cooperate appear to have ended.
