Iran surveys damage after cyclone

TEHRAN, June 9 (UPI) -- Conditions were returning to normal gradually Saturday after a savage cyclone killed at least 61 people in Iran and Oman.

Cyclone Gonu this week damaged more than 1,000 villages and wiped away roads, bridges and houses in the two countries, reported the United Arab Emirates Gulf News.

Ten UAE sailors were reported missing after their boat sank off Fujairah Port, said Port Director Mousa Murad. Eleven other sailors were rescued, he said.

Fujairah Port suffered severe damage and a ban on fishing continued Saturday in Ras Al Khaimah, which meant limited food supplies, Gulf News reported.
