Woman scams dead roommate's father

DETROIT, June 8 (UPI) -- A Canton, Mich., woman will stand trial in Wayne County court for allegedly living with the body of her dead roommate to get money from the woman's father.

Christina Tracy, 28, waived her right to a preliminary hearing at 35th District Court in Plymouth, Mich. She is charged with a felony for identity theft and a misdemeanor for larceny, the Detroit Free Press reported Friday.

Her roommate, Ashley Pierce, reportedly was found dead in their apartment on March 6 from an opiate overdose. Tracy allegedly lived with Pierce's body for three weeks after her death to collect money from the dead roommate's father.

Tracy is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Wayne County Circuit Court on June 22.
