MUSCAT, Oman, June 7 (UPI) -- Cyclone Gonu, which brought strong winds and floods to the Arabian Peninsula, killed 12 people in Oman, police said.
A spokesman for the Royal Oman Police did not give more details on the deaths related to Gonu, which pounded Oman on Wednesday before heading to Iran, Alalam reported.
On Thursday, the cyclone killed at least three people in car accidents caused by flooding and poor visibility in Iran, Alalam reported.
Thousands of Iranians were evacuated because of the storm. Gonu also led to evacuations in southwestern Pakistan, where the storm destroyed buildings and boats.
