Four Israeli solders hurt in rocket attack

GAZA, June 3 (UPI) -- Four Israeli soldiers were wounded Sunday by mortar shells fired by Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip.

The soldiers were hit at the Erez crossing. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack, which came two days after Israeli soldiers killed a senior Islamic Jihad member in nearby Khan Younis, reported Ynetnews.com.

During a cabinet meeting Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert pledged that Israeli troops would "continue to operate incessantly."

"No one is immune," Olmert said. "Our activity will continue as long as we have to bring security to the citizens of Israel."

Sunday's attack followed a relatively quiet weekend in the western Negev and Sderot area, which has been under rocket attack for weeks.
