Eatery fire in China kills 11, injures 16

CHAOYANG, China, May 27 (UPI) -- A fire at a restaurant in China's Chaoyang City killed 11 people and injured 16, it was reported Sunday.

Officials in the Liaoning Province city said the fire at the Baixinglou Restaurant started during dining service Saturday. Customers and employees were among the dead, China's Xinhua news agency reported.

The injured were all in stable condition Sunday.

An initial investigation into the cause of the blaze indicated it may have been sparked by improper use of an oven, Xinhua said.
