Fire leaves 2,000 homeless in Indonesia

JAKARTA, May 22 (UPI) -- A fire that destroyed 700 houses in South Jakarta Tuesday left 2,000 people homeless, officials said.

Fire officials told Elshinta radio that the fire in the Duri Selatan neighborhood was started by an electrical problem at one house.

Duri Selatan is one of Jakarta's most densely populated areas, the Jakarta Post reported.
