ARLINGTON, Texas, May 11 (UPI) -- An Arlington, Texas, man was recovering Friday from injuries suffered when he was struck by freak lightning while mowing his lawn.
Robert Hurst, a spokesman for American Medical Response, which provides Arlington's ambulance services, said the man was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in serious but stable condition Thursday, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Friday.

Neighbor Darren Gibson said it wasn't raining, but he heard a tremendous thunderclap as he went into his house. A few minutes later he heard the ambulance and fire truck sirens, he said.
