Va. Tech shooter had campus police record

BLACKSBURG, Va., May 9 (UPI) -- More than one year before he went on a shooting rampage at Virginia Tech University, Cho Seung-hui was the focus of a harassment complaint to campus police.

A campus police report showed that in November 2005, university police received the complaint against Cho, after the 23-year-old visited a woman's dormitory late at night, USA Today reported Wednesday.

Cho was the gunman who shot and killed 32 people at the college April 16 before taking his own life.

The police report said an unidentified female student complained that Cho had been harassing before he showed up at her dorm room Nov. 27, 2005.

"She was concerned about the situation," the report said. "The subject known as 'Question Mark' knew things about her (such as her middle name) that she did not believe was listed anywhere."

USA Today said university officials were unable to provide information on any disciplinary actions resulting from the complaint, due to federal privacy law.
