BATON ROUGE, La., May 5 (UPI) -- A Louisiana State University student was jailed for allegedly threatening to kill Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.
Richard Ryan Wargo, 19, of Shreveport, La., was arrested Thursday night and charged with terrorizing, communicating false information of planned arson, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, The Baton Rouge (La.) Advocate reported Saturday.
Wargo was being held on a $1 million bond, the newspaper reported.
Wargo allegedly twice told a classmate he planned to commit an act of violence against Clinton, LSU Police Chief Ricky Adams said Friday.
The classmate contacted police after learning Clinton was due in Baton Rouge Saturday to address the National Conference of Black Mayors.
"He put one and one together after he saw (Clinton) was coming to town," Adams said. "That compelled him to come forward."
The U.S. Secret Service and Baton Rouge city police assisted in the investigation, he said.
