PRAGUE, Czech Republic, March 23 (UPI) -- The Czech Republic police head resigned Friday over abuse of power charges and reportedly leaking information to a Russian agent, Prague Radio said.
After his meeting with Czech Interior Minister Ivan Langer in Prague, Police President Vladislav Husak told reporters he resigned after serious consideration but refused to elaborate.
Langer said he hoped Husak would remain serving in a law enforcement unit.
Husak is accused of allegedly informing in advance about pending arrests of key suspects in several corruption cases.
He also was charged with leaking classified information to a Russian agent.
Husak denied the accusations on Thursday but said the charges were so serious that he would be sacked or resign, the radio said.
