Gunman arrested at election rally in India

UTTARAKHAND, India, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- A man with a pistol was arrested Sunday trying to sneak into a campaign rally in Uttarakhand, India, for Congress President Sonia Gandhi, police said.

The man identified himself as a resident of the Bageshwar district, CNN-IBN reported, and police were trying to confirm his identity.

The incident prompted police to tighten security at rallies where Gandhi is to appear as the Feb. 21 election approaches.

Sources told CNN-IBN that no changes had been made to her campaign itinerary.
