DENVER, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- Parents of five teenagers killed in the worst U.S. school shooting ever say testimony from parents of the two killers should be unsealed.
At a hearing Thursday in federal court in Denver, they argued against a plan to keep depositions sealed in the National Archives for 25 years, the Denver Post reported. The parents of Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris gave the depositions in lawsuits filed after the Columbine High School massacre in 1999.
Colorado Attorney General John Suthers suggested to U.S. District Judge Lewis Babcock that the depositions, even if they are not made public, should be reviewed by experts on juvenile violence for insights that could prevent future killings. Delbert Elliott, director of the University of Colorado's Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence, is overseeing a detailed study of the Columbine massacre.
Klebold and Harris killed 12 students and a teacher before turning their guns on themselves.
