Comatose woman found in impound lot

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- An 85-year-old woman was in grave condition at a Canadian hospital after she was found comatose in her car at a Vancouver impound lot, a report says.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported that after the car had been towed away from a no-parking zone earlier in the week, the comatose woman was discovered unconscious inside it when a lot worker scraped frost of its windows.

Vancouver police spokesman Constable Tim Fanning said the frost prevented a law enforcement officer and tow-truck driver from seeing the woman.

Once discovered, the unidentified woman was rushed to an area hospital.

Fanning told the CBC that despite officials overlooking the woman in the car for nearly 21 hours, there was no evidence of wrongdoing.

"Nobody did anything wrong in this case at all. It's very unfortunate, and, you know, we suspect it probably had something to do with a pre-existing medical condition," he said.
