Turks name journalist murder suspect

ISTANBUL, Turkey, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Turkish authorities have identified the prime suspect in the shooting death of a controversial journalist.

Ogun Samas was reportedly identified Saturday by his own father, after surveillance footage was released of the man believed to have gunned down Hrant Dink outside his Istanbul office earlier in the week.

The BBC said Samas' connection to Dink was not known and his family was being questioned.

It is suspected that Dink was targeted for his controversial articles on the 1915 massacre of hundreds of thousands of Armenians by the Ottoman Turks, a sensitive issue among both Armenians and Turks.
