Serbia seizes heroin on Croatian border

BELGRADE, Serbia, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Serbian Customs agents seized 17 pounds of heroin Monday from a vehicle at the Croatian border, Belgrade media reported.

Customs officers at the Serbian Batrovci crossing point, 75 miles west of Belgrade, stopped the car and found heroin wrapped in 15 packages hidden under upholstery, above the rear wheels and under the driver's seat, Serbia's RTS radio-television reported.

The woman, with Swiss and Macedonian passports, was handed over to Serbian police for questioning, a Customs statement said.

The market value of the 17 pounds of heroin was estimated at $600,000, police said.
