Missing baby recovered in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- An 11-month-old baby taken during a car theft this weekend in Indianapolis was found unharmed hours later after a massive manhunt.

Brayden Huepenbruker was in the van, and was taken along with the vehicle Saturday morning, but was discovered safe four hours later by a city-wide search involving more than 100 area police officers, the Indianapolis Star reported.

The infant was strapped into a child seat in his family's van, which his father had left running when he ran into a local convenience store.

After calling in an entire police shift hours early to conduct a search, the 11-month-old was found safe seven miles away, still strapped into his seat and with the keys still in the car's ignition.

The Star said Saturday's incident bears a striking resemblance to a February car theft that also involved children left inside and also ended with all its innocent passengers safe and unhurt.
