MILWAUKEE, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- A Milwaukee judge has ordered a 14-year-old boy to undergo sex offender treatment for participating in the gang rape of 11-year-old girl.
Children's Court Judge David Borowski also sentenced the boy to one year at the Ethan Allen School in Delafield, Wis., the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported Wednesday. A total 14 defendants, aged 13 to 40, have been charged with assaulting the girl.
"The treatment the 11-year-old suffered as a result of the sexual assaults in this case was so egregious I am sure the victim will require a lifetime of therapy," Borowski said.
During the sentencing, Borowski quoted a psychological report performed on the boy that described him as "more of a follower than a leader."
However, Borowski said, "He had ample opportunity to do the right thing" and he did not. The judge said the decision put before the boy was not a "tough call."
"You go running out of the house and then you call the police ... One does not participate," the judge said in the Journal-Sentinel report.
