Berlusconi released from Milan hospital

MILAN, Italy, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Former Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi left a Milan hospital Wednesday with a clean bill of health after fainting during a weekend speech.

The 70-year-old leader of the conservative Forza Italia party and billionaire media mogul underwent a barrage of tests after collapsing Sunday night, and he called out to well-wishers, "Everything is fine," as he left the hospital.

Supporters were quick to echo the center-right opposition leader still was a force with whom to be reckoned, the ANSA news agency reported.

"Reports of Berlusconi's demise have been vastly exaggerated," said Roberto Formigoni, a leading member of Forza Italia.

Doctors attributed his collapse to stress, fatigue and the heat in the meeting hall, the report said.

Berlusconi and a British lawyer are on trial for tax fraud, and judges on Monday agreed to allow a recess of several days for Berlusconi to recover although it wasn't immediately clear Wednesday when the trial would resume.
