Teen injured while attempting stunt

PLEASANTON, Calif., Nov. 22 (UPI) -- A Pleasanton, Calif., teenager suffered multiple injuries after riding his bicycle off a 25-foot drop in what was described as a "Jackass" stunt.

Livermore Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief Glenn Haendel said Christopher White, 18, was injured Sunday at Foothill High School, the Oakland (Calif.) Tribune reported Wednesday.

"They (the two students) found an individual who took his bike and did a 'Jackass' stunt," Haendel said, referring to the MTV show featuring dangerous stunts. "He had taken his bike ... off a 25-foot-tall building."

Doctors at San Jose hospital said the teen fractured both of his wrists, broke his right hip and sustained injuries to his head. They said there is also a possibility of spinal damage.

Pleasanton Police Sgt. Craig Eicher said White told two students who witnessed the stunt that he had done it successfully before.

"He came short of being completely paralyzed from the neck down," the officer said.
