ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- Linny Pacillo, one of two sisters who used humor to fight the Anchorage, Alaska, parking authority, has died at the age of 47.
Pacillo and her sister, Susan Pacillo, dressed in pink tutus and black tights to become the "parking fairies" who wedged coins into meters. Their campaign in the 1990s helped inspire a 1997 referendum that limited handing out parking tickets to sworn police officers, the Anchorage Daily News reported.
Susan Pacillo told the Daily News that Linny tried to help people everywhere she went. She helped run her family's gas station, Courtney's, where the sisters collected parking authority horror stories, and gave extended payment terms to people with low incomes and cars that needed fixing.
"When she'd come into the room she'd charge every ion in the room," Susan Pacillo said.
Linny Pacillo suffered from muscular dystrophy and also from injuries suffered six years ago in a car crash, the report said.
