MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Former Uruguayan President Juan Maria Bordaberry was arrested Friday in connection with four political killings, El Pais newspaper reported online.
Bordaberry, who ruled from 1971-1976 in conjunction with military leaders, was accused of ordering the deaths of two lawmakers and two left-wing rebels.

Former Foreign Minister Juan Carlos Blanco was also arrested Friday in connection with the alleged crime.
An estimated 180 Uruguayans were killed during the former military regime.
