Democrat said winner in Ind. House race

INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Incumbent U.S. Rep. John Hostettler, R-Ind., has been defeated by Democratic challenger Brad Ellsworth, CNN projected Tuesday.

The projection came with about half of the vote counted.

Earlier, with 15 percent of the votes in, Ellsworth led 70 percent to 30 percent.

The Democrats need a net gain of at least 15 seats to gain control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

WFIE-TV, Indianapolis, said Ellsworth led in the polls before the vote.
