Indian man charged with threat to P.M.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, India, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Police in India say a young man sent threatening e-mail to a police minister because of an unhappy love affair.

Raman Shrivastava, the police chief in Kerala, said Akbar Raj admitted sending threats against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Abdul Kalam, The Times of India reported. The chief said the messages had been traced electronically.

The messages, sent to top police officials, said Singh and Kalam would be assassinated if they came to Kerala. Singh is scheduled to arrive Tuesday.

"The real motive behind the e-mail was a failed love affair with an engineering graduate," Shrivastava said.

Raj, a high-tech employee, was arrested Saturday.
