Liberals and Tories on equal footing

The Globe and Mail said Bob Rae would be the favorite Liberal leadership candidate to take on Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

In Quebec, the Conservatives have fallen in popularity since May when they were the top pick of 30 percent of voters. The new poll gives them only 16 percent of voters.

The newspaper said Liberals are the first choice of 28 percent of Quebeckers, although Bloc Québécois continues to lead with 44 percent of voters.

The survey of 1,000 people was conducted between Oct. 12 and 15, the newspaper said.
