Ex-POW Jessica Lynch expecting a girl

ELIZABETH, W.Va., Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Jessica Lynch, the former U.S. soldier who was rescued after being captured in Iraq, is expecting a baby girl in January, People magazine reports.

Lynch told People that the baby's ultrasound images are "adorable," but she and boyfriend Wes Robinson declined to reveal the name they have picked out.

Lynch, who is pursuing a teaching degree in West Virginia, was captured by Iraqi troops in 2003 and soon after became the first U.S. POW since World War II to be successfully rescued by her comrades.

Although Lynch didn't spend much time in captivity, the ambush on her convoy and her capture left her with injuries to her back, legs and nervous system that have her classified as a high-risk pregnancy.

She said she would likely deliver by C-section to reduce risk to both her back and her baby.
