LA PAZ, Bolivia, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Bolivian armed forces were deployed to break up clashes between rival groups of miners that left nearly two dozen people dead, La Razon reported Friday.

Earlier this week, a group of independent miners seized a state-owned mine some 170 miles south of La Paz and its workers fought back.

Last month, state miners blocked some of the country's main roads, as they called for more jobs.
