Spain's ETA not linked to Madrid blast

MADRID, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Spain's Basque separatist group ETA was not involved in the 2003 Madrid train bombings that killed 191 people, Spanish security services announced Thursday.

Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba denied past allegations that ETA was involved in the blast and that the Spanish government sought to cover up the group's role in the bombings, EFE news agency reported

The March 11, 2004, bombings were attributed to an Islamic terror group with ties to al-Qaida.
