Poland PM dismisses his populist deputy

WARSAW, Poland, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Poland's conservative prime minister has dismissed his populist deputy and now is working on creating a new parliamentary coalition.

Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski said, after the collapse of the ruling coalition, he and his ruling conservatives would try to assemble a new parliamentary majority with the Polish Peasant's party and elements of the Self-Defense party, the BBC reported Friday.

Deputy Prime Minister Andrzej Lepper, of the rural Self-Defense party famous for organizing farmers' protests, was dismissed from his post because he had repeatedly criticized the Kaczynski government's domestic and foreign policies, ranging from the countrys' budget to sending troops to Afghanistan.

Late Thursday, Jaroslaw Kaczynski said he asked his twin brother, President Lech Kaczynski, to dismiss Lepper for his "practices of sowing discord" within the government, BBC said.
